everything related to Jon Sonnenberg

i had made a thread for this on the previous flish board, but i am not seeing it here, so i decided to start it over again.

as some of you might recall from the previous thread, Jon has been working on releasing 3 discs for quite some time now.

a 7" containing the songs "A-side" (aside) and "B-side" (beside).

"aside" can be seen performed at musica live here --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOZhC7SSoX8
and here from autobahn 10 --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sn-shcBL3wk

"beside" can be seen performed at musica live here --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orlC8h-FVOI
and here from autobahn 10 --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2-H07-E7VQ

he also has a cd which will incorporate fireworks into the music in some way or form, i am not exactly certain how this works and have only heard one song from it "cathedral" from a radio interview he did.

then of course there is the long awaited next travelogue full length release which Jon has just announced the title of "the noise is only temporary".
a song "brushfire" from the upcoming album is available for listening here --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRT4O9OXwv4

(special thanks to joel swanson for attending and filming these shows.)

here's a rare treat for any long time fans of jon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMp6MTdc5KY

Re: everything related to Jon Sonnenberg
as the new Travelogue full length cd enters it's finishing stages, a discussion recently was brought up in regards to some of the video game soundtracks to which Mr. Sonnenberg has contributed songs for.
in response to the topic, posted over at traveloguefans.com, Jon had this to share with his fans.

"As far as listening to the video game music that I have done, I plan on releasing some of the music for MP3 download sometime soon - probably this winter. I have shared a few songs on this forum in the past, but not very many of them, considering I have nearly 100 short songs. I am even considering releasing a track per week, and spacing the release out for a year or so."

pretty neat stuff, especially if you are a fan of his body of work from any point over the years.

more updates to come, as time progresses and news becomes available.

Re: everything related to Jon Sonnenberg
Well, I've listened to a few Pivot Clowj songs in the past, but I finally got around to listening to mp3s of the album "It's Not As If [etc]" and I'm bummed I didn't pick the CD up when I had a chance (oh to have lossless quality!). It's really good stuff. There's one song on there "Me Minus You" that I swear could be some long-lost Coil material. That, in case you didn't guess, is a magnificent compliment. When I was younger, I guess I couldn't appreciate this type of experimental artistry. I needed something more along the lines of Blackout :)

Re: everything related to Jon Sonnenberg
i too would Agree, that at times some of Jon's body of work has reminded me of coil.
and "me minus you" in particular, is a very good example of Jon at his experimental best.
another that you might like, in that vein, is a song titled "commands" off of his collaboration with Israel Slick on the cd called "The Prometheus Project".

as for obtaining a cd of "it's not as if . . ." don't give up Hope just yet.
once Jon has opened up the official homepage again (artoftravelogue.com), you may very well be able to purchase the disc straight from the man himself.
;)
he should be doing so pretty soon, since the next full length travelogue is very near completion.

you'll also be able to purchase t-shirts and other cd's throughout his catalog as far as i am aware.

p.s. i'll ask Jon about the pivot clowj cd's availability however, and message you what i find out.

Peace be on you and God Bless!

Re: everything related to Jon Sonnenberg
the release for "the noise is only temporary" has been moved back to february 22nd.

i will update this date if it changes again.
most likely this will cause a delay in the release date for the "aside/beside" single as well, so when i get confirmation on THAT i will post it also.

just a reminder to those interested, the travelogue fireworks e.p. will release on 7/4.

you can buy it at the travelogue website: artoftravelogue.com, or through holiday records website: http://www.holidayrecords.net/

also, i wanted to let you know that there is a remix of the song "suburban dreams" (original song featured on "the noise is only temporary" cd) over on jon's soundcloud page (http://soundcloud.com/jon-sonnenberg).
the remix is by jon's longtime bandmate from pivot clowj, and house of wires, robert gutschow.
this is a treat for long time fans of Jon and Rob. :)

Re: everything related to Jon Sonnenberg
Something new/old from Mr. Sonnenberg.

check out a sample of it here, ( http://www.figmentrecordings.com/ ) where you can pre-order it, and read about it in past interviews/reviews here on flish, or from Jon himself, here ( http://artoftravelogue.blogspot.com/2013/09/christmas-according-to-jon.html ).

also, there are a couple of upcoming goodies from Jon as well. If you didn't already know there was a collaboration between Jon and Ronnie Martin under the name of Daphne Oramics.
Jon is also releasing a couple of other things which he shared over on the travelogue fans forum -

Jon: I am working on the next DROD game and that has been taking a lot of my time.
Aside from DROD, I have been working on a new album called "Death of Conversation" which is a sequel to "the Art of Conversation" and very minimal. I also am working on a new song for a compilation that the new Plastiq Musiq will be releasing. Also, I am going through many archives and sorting through all the stuff - some songs I plan on remixing (much like I did for Autonomy), some I plan on re-releasing online, some I am planning various physical releases for. And one more thing that I am working on with Sarah and Matt from Opal Onyx (Matthew played on the my acoustic record and the 20GOTO10 CD) are 4 cover songs of an artist that I love, Annette Hanshaw. I have a soft spot for 20's and 30's music. I especially love Annette Hanshaw and Gene Austin. I find myself liking the later big band music (Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Bing Crosby, etc) less and less, and the earlier less orchestrated stuff more and more.

it's possible that a new video/song "stay", is the one he is referring to appearing on the plastiq musiq compilation.
i will Hopefully be sharing more info on that particular song/video soon.

another thing that Jon shared, is that he is considering doing another acoustic selections cd, but this is something that would be a bit further down the road.

(sorry the updates have been a little behind, but things have gotten a bit busy for me lately.)
